Best cigar lounges in Dallas: Uptown polish, Deep Ellum grit, and everything between

Bill··Dallas, Texas

I had a two-day client visit in Dallas last spring and managed to hit three lounges in three different neighborhoods. Each one felt like a different city. That's the thing about Dallas. The metro has about 13 cigar spots, and the range between them is wider than you'd expect from a place that sometimes gets lumped in as "just another Texas city."

Texas exempts dedicated cigar lounges and tobacco shops from indoor smoking bans, so lighting up inside is the norm at every spot listed here.

Cigar Shop

Uptown

The polished side of the Dallas cigar scene. Lounges here cater heavily to the after-work crowd, so expect leather seating, full bars, and a dress code that leans business casual. On weekends it gets more social, almost clubby at some spots. If you want a cigar with a proper Old Fashioned in a well-designed room, Uptown is the move.

Deep Ellum

Completely different vibe. Deep Ellum is where the live music venues and dive bars are, and the cigar spots match that energy. Younger crowd, more relaxed dress code, nobody cares if you're in jeans and a t-shirt. Worth checking out if you want to pair a smoke with a night out, though the cigar-specific options are more limited than Uptown.

Highland Park

Money lives in Highland Park, and the cigar shops reflect that. Walk-in humidors are well-curated, staff actually know what they're talking about, and the pace is slower. Less of a scene and more of a "sit quietly and enjoy a good stick" kind of neighborhood. Premium sticks, premium prices.

BYOC and drinks

Some Dallas lounges are totally fine with you bringing your own sticks. Others charge a cutting fee or a flat lounge fee, usually $5-$10. And a few really do expect you to buy from their humidor. No universal rule, so check the individual listing before you show up with a travel case.

The bigger lounges almost all have full bar service. Whiskey selections tend to be solid across the board (this is Texas, after all). Smaller cigar shops are more hit-or-miss on drinks. Some are BYOB, which can be nice if you want to bring a specific bottle. Check listings for details.
