Best cigar lounges in Las Vegas (beyond the casino humidors)

Bill··Las Vegas, Nevada

Vegas might be the easiest cigar city in America. Nevada lets you smoke indoors in bars and casinos, which means you can light up in places that would get you kicked out in 45 other states. There are over 20 lounges between the Strip, Downtown, and the suburbs, ranging from $40-cigar-and-cognac casino spots to strip-mall shops where the same guys have been sitting in the same chairs every Tuesday for a decade.

The scene splits cleanly in two. Strip and casino lounges are built for tourists and high rollers - full bar service, premium humidors, leather everything. You're paying for the setting as much as the smoke. Some resorts have dedicated lounges with their own entrances; others carved out a corner of a cocktail bar and added a humidor. Off-Strip spots in Summerlin, Henderson, and Spring Valley are where the locals go. Strip-mall storefronts, usually. But the humidors are deep, the prices are sane, and the regulars will talk your ear off about what's new from Padron. If you only hit the Strip, you're seeing half the picture.

Smoking laws

Nevada is about as permissive as it gets. Indoor smoking is legal in bars and casinos, with some carve-outs around food service areas. Coming from a state like California or New York, it almost feels surreal to just smoke inside without anyone batting an eye.

Casinos themselves vary on cigar policy. A lot have dedicated cigar lounges, and some let you smoke cigars on the gaming floor at the tables, though that's property by property.

The Strip vs. off-Strip

On the Strip

Most big resorts have some kind of cigar option, whether it's a proper lounge with a walk-in humidor or a cigar menu at a high-end bar. The experience is polished and the prices reflect that. A stick that runs $12 online might cost $18 to $22 at a casino humidor. That markup is consistent across pretty much every property. Good for a special occasion or when you don't feel like leaving the hotel.

BYOC is almost never allowed at Strip lounges. Plan on buying on-site.

Downtown (Fremont Street area)

Different energy. Grittier, cheaper, more interesting than the Strip in a lot of ways. Cigar options are more limited here, but the area is growing fast.

Off-Strip (Summerlin, Henderson, Spring Valley)

This is the real cigar scene. Suburban shops with walk-in humidors that rival anything on the Strip, minus the markup. Regulars know the inventory by heart. BYOC policies are more relaxed, with cutting fees usually around $5 to $10 when they charge at all. Nobody's in a hurry. It's a 10 to 15 minute Uber from most Strip hotels and worth every minute of the ride. Serious smokers buy off-Strip and then smoke wherever they want.

Timing your visit

Weekday afternoons are the move. Strip lounges pack out on weekend nights, and it gets worse during CES, UFC fight weeks, or March Madness. If you want a seat at a popular Strip lounge on a Saturday night, show up early or expect to wait.

Most Vegas lounges have full bars. The Strip spots lean into whiskey and scotch pairings. Off-Strip, you'll get beer and wine at minimum. A few of the bigger suburban shops carry full liquor too.
